WHAT IS WICKED?

It's a new musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman based on Gregory Maguire's novel, the show tells the pre-"Wizard of Oz" tale of the Good Witch and the Bad Witch.

It focusses on the tale of Elphaba (Wicked Witch of the West) and features Adam as Fiyero.

Raised in the backwaters of Oz but sent to school in the city, Elphaba suffers through her dormmate Glinda's prissy behavior, becomes a radical animal rights activist (when the Wizard arrives, he immediately reduces all animals, even the talking ones, to their former roles as beasts of burden and food) and falls in love with Fiyero.

The London production at the Apollo Victoria from September the 7th and features: Idina Menzel, Helen Dallimore, Nigel Planer, Miriam Margoyles, Katie Rowley Jones, James Gillam and Martin Ball.

The workshop featured Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth (You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown) and Idina Menzel (Aida, Rent)

Joe Mantello is directing and Marc Platt is producing as they did the Workshop.
