Saturday Night Fever Show Reports
Monday 8th March Sparse but enthusiatic audience - particularly upper circle.
Ads emerged after weekend off looking tired but chipper with a high quiff (extra mousse) and the cast were obviously delighted to have him back.
After last weeks scratch on the throat - check out the Latest pics - Ads was now sporting a big scratch across his chest (no speculation from this end on where it came from).
The whole cast looked likely to erupt into giggles at any moment and Ad's doing little whoops from time to time to show how pleased he was to be back.
Of many half remembered japes the funniest was in YSBD when Ads decided to do a line in pure Oz - "Goes roight on till the dorn" - I nearly peed my foundation garments.
Very pale boy at the Stage Door saying that after 2 days off he felt like a cripple. But he was very sweet and kind posing for pics and taking his hat off to show his lovely hair.
That makes 50 shows for me (CJ) and I have yet to see Adam be rude or unpleseant. Perhaps there is another show called Official Saturday Night Fever and that's where all those people on the official website go. Sure ain't the show I see. (CJ)
Tuesday 9th March
For some reason or other, I can't work it out Adam's knee pads looked larger when he hit the front of the Stage tonight with his wicked grin.
The show was lively and amusing. Biggest jape was Adam and Adrian playing a surreptious game of "Paper, Stone Scissors" all the way through the first half - continuing on the bridge during Jive Talkin.
Pili was still standing in for Lara and tonight her and Daryn did a flawless dance contest including the one-handed lift which was great.
Adam making lots of doe eyes at Anita throughout the Dance contest and having a very animated conversation with her about something standing at the bar during the Puerto Rican dance.
During the encore Adam did some wonderful ballet moves including elevations and pirouettes to die for. He pirouetted to the back of the stage wonderfully at the end - even when he is messing his dancing is so precise.
Stage Door quite quiet but Ads very obviously in a rush - stopped briefly to hand over our new homepage picture, posed for few photos and then disappeared into the night.
Till Thursday then girls.
Wednesdya 10th March
Adam was so switched on. His acting in the serious moments was the best seen yet. He started by walking to the front of the stage with his "come to bed baby" expression on his face and just at the last moment lifted his right eyebrow and grinned.
The girls in Boogie Shoes got "do you know what I would like to do to them? Just guess"
Simon had his shirt completely unbuttoned all the way down to the belt in the Disco scene - obviously trying to impress the chicks in the front row.
The rest of the show was pretty much in line, except let me say again, Adam straight acting moments were outstanding.
Finally Pili and Daryn now have the Dance contest off to a fine art and are breathtaking. (LA)
Thursday 11th March
This was the best show I have ever seen - with the whole cast on best joking form. The main culprit was Richard Calkin - his many crimes included.:
Holding up a Bee Gees record during the disco scene.
Telling Connie to close her legs and asking her if Gus knew about that (Brenda and Mike are an item as if you didn't know)
And the most classic line of all as Tony approaches the DJ box at the start of the dance contest " Yes the toilets are the second on the left - but you can't go now you'll have to wait."
He then followed this as Tony and Anita started their routine with "Don't forget Tony man - the toilets are 2nd on the left". He also lifted the back of Zoe's shorts during Disco Duck so the audience could see her bum.
There was a loud bang during Nights on Broadway and Tara clutched her chest and collapsed like she'd been shot. Adam was groping everything that moved and trying to spit on Tara's head from the bridge - as well as practising startled catalogue poses with Adrian. It was complete mayhem.
All this and the most perfect rendition of Immortality.
If this is an indication of what the rest of the run is gonna be like GET YOUR TICKETS NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.
Adam chatty, and joking at the stage door. In a hurry to get next door as someone had promised to buy him a beer. Carrying his coat but in hat/glasses and get this - wearing BAGGY BROWN CORDS. (Does this make him a relevant 70's head?). Pictures on the weekend I promise.
