Saturday Night Fever Show Reports
Tuesday 30th March First thing we noticed when he strutted on to stage was that he has had that much needed haircut. Richard C was back. Packed with the now obligatory screaming girlies. Adam looked happy, energetic and mischievous. Giggling and grinning almost constantly in the first half. Tara was struggling with a very croaky voice.
Highlights included Chester throwing Shirley's skirt in the front row to which RC retaliated "Chester, you faggot - get a haircut. Farnk Senior still having problems with that line in the bedroom scene and Richard shouting out "It's OK Tony, I went before I came out!"
Adam in a rush at a packed Stage Door but stopped to chat o a girl in a Wheelchair. His Mum seems very bemused with it all and Tish who was explaining to his Mum how the girlies usually ask him to take his hat off. (Emily & Sally)
Wednesday 31st March - Matinee
If Adam and Anita manage to get through the next two and a half weeks without completely losing it , it will be a miracle. At this performance they looked like they were on the verge of bursting out laughing in virtually every scene. Tara's voice even more croaky and Adam was really taking the piss. Mike was standing in as Bobby C with Adam pretending to be confused at each scene they played.
Adam had a spot on his forehead which seemed to be the source of much ribbing, at one point RC actually pointed to it and said - "What's that"
L despatched to M&S Foodhall to collect the tea, boy staying put in his Dressing Room to rest leaving a clutch of disappointed school girls to ponder what it would have been like to meet
AGG.
Wednesday 31st March Evening
Tara off with stressed voice so Louise was Doreen, Daryn was Joey and Benjy was back as Chester.
Mike again playing Bobby C and he sang it very nicely - he has a very pretty "Les Mis" sort of voice. My tip for the top: Mike will end up as Marius or Raoul in Phantom. He is very touching but a bit too good-looking for Bobby C.
Adam in fine mood, suffering a bit in the voice department, but responding to a very warmly appreciative house who cheered at the right bits and didn't scream in the wrong bits. Adam and Alexia (who was Annette) kept bumping into each other - he just loves those chests.
Lots of rear- end slapping going on - he got L, Clare,Zoe and was having a high old time with Laura Jane up against the wall at the end.
He sobered up a bit in the second half and by What kind of fool looked positively ill - he did that gazing at the floor and swallowing a lot thing that makes you think he's gonna hurl his lettuce.
However Anita really snogged him in the dance contest, leaving him baffled and amazed. Immortality was amazing and he was very zingy in the encore, when a little girl threw him an Easter egg - only Clare ran off with it.
Packed Stage Door calmed down a bit when the little schoolgirls were taken home in their bus. He was very sweet and Helen reduced him to shocked silence with a cleverly sourced picture that nearly caused him to utter the F word. But he didn't because his mother was right behind him.
Another great night and I can't bear that it's nearly all over. (CJ)
Saturday 27th March - Matinee
Unplanned visit - Sam in tow - brought about by Thursday's disappointment. Strange show as both Tara and Alexa were off so Brenda Jane played Annette - much hilarity when Mike grabbed her boobs and she had to shove him off and call him an Arsehole during the disco scene. Louise playing Doreen meaning Laura Jane played Connie. She was all over our boy during Neighbourhood - like a rash - but Ads didn't seem to be complaining.
Richard said to Rich W during Disco Duck - "Butch it up Troy - you're not in the Village People now."
Adam and Simon were flicking their front teeth at each other at every possible opportunity and when the Faces came on to meet Tony - Adam went over the top enthusiatically greeting each one and then really snubbed Bobby C - it was funny to watch.
Dance studio scene BJ a bit unsure about lines but really bumped into Ad's at which point "What was that" - "you were in my way" she said. He just looked so incredulous and said "I was in your way? I don't think so!!!"
Still no haircut by the way - if he hasn't had it cut by Monday I bet he's gonna leave i till the end of the run - this could be hysterical by the 17th!!!!! (HL)
