Saturday Night Fever Show Reports
23rd to 28th February 1999
Monday 23rd February Half term well and truly over so a bit less screaming when the boy took his shirt off.
The usual "Hi Guys haven't seen you for AGES" atmosphere of a Monday show seemed to permeate - lots of japes and broad smiles.
Daryn Crosby played Joey and David Payton Bruhl played Jay (in Peter Bishop's absence) - giving a whole new meaning to Adam's line "She can dance but she's got the wrong partner of course" - and did she ever.
Adam in great form - you can judge how high he is from the height of his jumps - and whether he does a big jump up after his backflip - tonight he did
He was also up to his velvet voiced lover routine with Anita in the dance contest - all smouldering looks and fluttering eyelashes. Also got the feeling he must have made some screw up on Saturday during the contest , he did one move and then punched his hand in the air as if to say YESSSSS. The cast then all applauded wildly.
Only 60 left!!!!!!!! (CJ)
Tuesday 23rd February
Adam walked to the front of the stage , gave that mischievous grin and you just knew what kind of show it was gonna be.
Continuation of ad-libbing with Tara in the dance studio, cracking up when Anita fluffed a line and "oh my how they bounce" ad-lib in Boogie Shoes.
Wardrobe really need to get a grip - Adam's left knee is indecently exposed in those black trousers and they're now sending Daryn out to dance in an atrocious technicolour waistcoat.
Richard Calkin is in really good form - adding in extra jokes to the Disco Duck scene including the duck laying an egg. (LA)
Thursday 25th February
Technical difficulties caused a late start to show (7.55pm) Adam looked tired but in good spirits when he hit the front of the stage.
It was obvious why when Alexia who was standing in as Annette came on for the Dance Studio scene in a very plunging, tight pink leotard and he just could not look her in the face. He is such a boob man it's untrue. He was so phased by them all the way through the performance. Even adlibbing at the end of the slut/nice girl debate - "Oh be both then"
Classic adlib in Boogie Shoes - "Ooh can you guess what I'd like to do with them" - "Talk, nothing sordid - just have a really intelligent conversation."
During the dance contest Lara sprained her ankle badly and had to be helped from the stage after finishing her number
Stage Door deserted when a very tired Adam emerged with Laetitia and another girl in tow - carrying suitcases!!!!!!! Sure the holiday is not meant to be till next weekend? He was clearly exhausted so we just told him "You were good today" and left him climbing into a taxi.
Friday 26th February
When Adam opened the show, he did not look a happy bunny - but after a few lines his mischievous self took over. He is clearly really tired. EIGHT SHOWS A WEEK ARE TOO MUCH.
Alexia on again as Annette with a continuation of all the boob antics and Louise was covering as Doreen. Resulting in a classic Adam adlib of "she's half hamster" when Doreen was wiping off his forehead. The Boogie Shoes girls again providing him with more victims when he puffed up his chest and said " did she do this ....she did didn't she?"
Pili covering in the dance contest for the injured Lara putting in a good performance under the watchful eye of Daryn who by all accounts was really sweet in guiding her through it. (LA)
