The Original Adam Garcia

Saturday Night Fever Show Reports

15th - 16th April 1999

Thursday 15th April
Got our health report before the show as Adam walked past us in Argyll Street on his way in to work. He said he was feeling better although his skin was so shiny and pale. He'd been doing some last minute shopping and was laden down with John Lewis bags.
The show was a great one. Adam was still coughing and struggling a little but nowhere near as much as the night before.
In Boogie Shoes he's obviously given up trying to hide his comments just saying "Nice tits" in a really loud voice as the girls walked past. The whole audience cracked out laughing - he then said under his breath "No offence intended of course".
His tongue just wouldn't stay in his mouth L, Zoe, Anita and Tara being on the receiving end of most of it. He did how every poke and wave it at Richard C rather lasciviously at the start of the Dance Studio scene. On the Bridge during Jive Talkin - he was making notes during Tara's vocal and at one point got a pretend pencil sharpener out of his pocket and sharpened his pretend pencil - which had us in complete fits.
Can't tell you much about the end of the show because I was crying from the first note of Immortality right through to the curtain call. Not sure how I'm gonna get through the next two days But tonight all did go smoothly - no temporary losses of memory - this may have been down to a much calmer and more appreciative crowd - except for 3 silly girls in the front row who got told to behave at least 3 times by an usher. Adam got his standing ovation during a tame encore and did look very tired and was sweating buckets.
Stage Door just a mass of girls and Adam got through fairly quickly with some dogged determination, asking the girls not to follow him - which to their credit most of them didn't and headed to join some friends in a local pub for an aftershow bevvie or two.
Well deserved Ad's - see ya tomorrow.

Friday 16th April
A packed house with touts outside trying to buy tickets from 5.00 onwards. Suddenly everyone just has to see this show - I wonder why? Brief encounter with Adam in the street beforehand elicited the fact that the cough was better but he was "still a bit snotty". Grinning all over his face - he hit the front of the stage to loud cheers and applause from what turned out to be a fairly well behaved audience.
Clearly in one of his more lewd moods - during the bedroom scene while tucking in his trousers he adjusted a particular part of his anatomy into a position where it was even more prominent than usual. Causing much glee in a certain part of the front row - who didn't look at his face at any point in Boogie Shoes - being completely distracted and missing all the ad-libs. Sorry girls. He was indeed still snotty - blowing his nose in the disco scene. Lots of giggling not least in the front row - Adam sweating buckets and making Anita and Tara laugh. Acting very touching - particularly in the scene with his mother.
Disco Duck with Rich really risking a hernia with that egg laying sequence. The prominence wasn't reduced by the change into the Burgundy trousers - and much standing sideways in front of that section of the front row during the dance studio scene. Michael's shooting skills in the basketball scene are now perfected with him scoring virtually the whole length of the stage.
YSBD - extremely fluid and lithe pelvic thrusting -and yes before you ask the silver trousers made it even worse. Lots of "What me ref!!!" during Jive Talkin. The dance contest was just exquisite but the gang on the podium were really hamming it up during Tony and Steph dance causing hilarity in a different section of the front row During the encore Adam was just starting his backflip when a REALLY STUPID GIRL in the middle of the front row threw a bunch of pink carnations at him. Luckily for him, her and all of us - they hit the soles of his feet as he was flipping over. It was a really scary moment. Adam could have fallen and broken his neck ....HOW REALLY STUPID CAN ONE PERSON BE.
Stage Door complete and utter mayhem - usual request for a kiss from a girl at the top of the ramp - met with "No sorry" from the boy. Two girls were bragging at the top of the ramp about having "walked with him" to the Tube Station last week. Girls if you are reading this - we have just two words to describe you - one is INCONSIDERATE and the other one is STALKERS.
So here we go into the last day with several cast members having promised us some great japes and wheezes. So check in tomorrow for the final installments of Adam Garcia - The Musical.
