The Original Adam Garcia

Saturday Night Fever Show Reports

10th - 14th April 1999

Saturday 10th April
Adam is enjoying every second of these last weeks and today was no exception. He had a wicked grin on his face and licked his lips when L came out for Stayin Alive. He was movin and groovin to Boogie Shoes adding whoops and "ooh baby", so obviously enjoying dancing with the guys.
He mouthed jiggle to Joey during BS, just after one of the girls had swished past. No prizes for guessing which track his mind was on for a change!!! Adam didn't have his cigarette for "Neighbourhood" - someone had obviously forgotten to pick up the prop - so Connie attempted to light his fingers. L was curiously smiling like crazy throughout - obviously thinking of having Adam to herself for a few months !!!!!!!!!
Adam's "rollercoaster arms" at the beginning of YSBD was breathtakingly fast and he threw himself into the whole routine like I have never seen. It's no wonder the boy has sacro-iliac problems in his lower spine - that pelvic thrust is enough to dislodge just about anything.
Girlies from up above began to clap along to the chorus of Tragedy....which almost caused one. Poor old Simon looked a bit pissed off but carried on brilliantly regardless. Immortality would've made you weep into your hankies. Big snogs between Adam and Anita at end of Dance Contest and before finale. In fact Adam looked like he wanted to carry on and it was Anita that pulled away. What is the girl thinking of!!!! During the finale some girls threw a Red Carnation on stage - Adam gave a wave, took a bow in their direction - but whilst he was backflipping Richard took the carnation , put it between his teeth and pranced around like a fairy elephant over to Adam. As the lights went down they were both dancing ridiculously in the background. A happy show ... at least for them.
Waited at the Stage Door just in case till L came out - gathered she's been dispatched to collect tea and that Adam would be staying in his Dressing Room for that well earned rest. (Kaz)

Wednesday 14th April
Well this is our first show report of this last week - I'm sure you're all aware of the reason - it's because this was Adam's first performance of the week. So health report first I think. Adam has had the flu and is still suffering from a really heavy cold. Blowing his nose and coughing to clear his throat at several points in the performance - by the end he looked exhausted and very pale. A quick conversation at the top of the ramp before he disappeared into the throng of massed girlies confirmed that - yes he was feeling better but was on a cocktail of drugs to get him through the performance. You could tell by the spaced out look in his eyes that he wasn't completely with us. So girls -keep ya fingers crossed and be very gentle with him and he just might make the end of the week.
Anyway to the performance. When he hit the front of the stage, smiling, you could almost hear the huge sigh of relief from the audience. The black trousers have almost given up the ghost with the left knee now virtually all patch up web. Daryn was playing Joey and David PB Frank Snr.
Boogie Shoes was just a long series of ad-libs , added in moves, giggles and japes particularly with Daryn and Adam's new Elvis impersonation yet again. The upper circle squealing at virtually every move of those oh so lithe and supple hips. Lewd moves on the podium before he actually took part in Disco Inferno and almost lost it when he was accused of looking like Al Pacino. At the end of Disco Duck when Adam came back onto the stage the Upper Circle went wild - Adam was lost - he just stopped and gave them one of those "What!!!!" looks.
The noise continued as Richard C filled in with "Sorry about the noise in here - mice I think". The stalls were killing themselves with laughing at this moment - then applauded. Adam made several attempts to straighten up and get back into character - eventually saying to Monty "I'm sure there was something I meant to ask you. Oh yeah! Have you got a studio free?" Adam and Anita were really setting each other off - both of them severely struggling to keep a straight face at any point in the performance. Adam seemed to glide through YSBD starting to look very physically tired and when he went down on all fours I heard him sigh as he pushed his pelvis up and down.
No signs of the tiredness after the break though when tap dancing, grinning and lewd gestures from the bridge had Tara giving him the finger. Again when he joined Richard on stage after the costume change into the orange vest the Upper Circle almost had a combined orgasm. Richard just couldn't get out his line - and Adam said "oh can't think of what to say huh!".
Tragedy was just that - poor Simon could hardly be heard over the screams of very inconsiderate girlies and at several points looked very lost and uncomfortable - but carried on manfully to his conclusion.
The final demonstration of Adam's disorientation happened at the start of the Dance Contest when he and Anita parted at the centre of the stage - she went off back and he went the wrong way - quickly realising what he had done and retrieving it but having both himself and Anita in stitches for a good minute and the rest of the cast applauding and whooping very loudly for the rest of the routine.
At the end of the encore someone threw Adam a "We love you Adam banner". Which he first of all wrapped round his waist like a skirt. Cheekily lifting up the hem to reveal his thighs and looking all coy. He then danced to the back of the stage , waving it around like a giant hanky. And was last seen with it tied around his neck as a Superman cape as he flew from the stage with his arm outstretched to the sky.
Hope he's feeling well enough to provide us with something to write about tomorrow - fingers crossed everyone. He did of course make the customary Stage Door appearance and I was amazed at how patiently he posed with loads of people and chatted despite looking ready to drop.
