WHAT IS On the Town

English National Opera' s (ENO) new production of ON THE TOWN begins 5 March, 2005 at the London Coliseum . There will be 17 performances playing in repertory until 24 May, 2005.

MARCH 5, 10 at 7.30PM, 12 at 2.30PM and 7.30PM
MARCH 18, 24 at 7.30PM, 26 at 2.30PM and 7.30PM
APRIL 7, 8, 13, 14, 19 at 7.30PM
MAY 11, 19, 21, 24 AT 7.30PM

Director Jude Kelly (Singin' in the Rain, Olivier Award "Outstanding Musical Production") and choreographer Stephen Mear (Mary Poppins, Anything Goes, Singin' in the Rain) are reunited in staging the first ever London revival of Leonard Bernstein's glorious musical. The production, a unique and major collaboration between ENO and some of the finest international musical theatre and opera artists, features a cast of 57 and a 48-piece orchestra.

With music by Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story, Candide), book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green (screenwriters of Singin' in the Rain) and based on an idea by Jerome Robbins, ON THE TOWN is set in 1940s New York. 3 sailors on shore leave (Adam Garcia, Timothy Howar and Aaron Lazar) embark on the biggest adventure of their lives with just 24 hours to find fun and romance in the world's most exciting city.
