Cadillac Ranch - Show Reports
Saturday April 1st 2000

What an end to an incredibly fun and exciting week. Today almost turned into a convention of the Southern England Chapter of the IAG Website.

For the matinee we decided it was about time that we sat in the middle of the front row - as we'd been avoiding it all week. We started to queue about 3pm and had lovely chats with the Front of House lady - who really couldn't believe what had been happening all week. We were all asked to be incredibly quiet as a BBC film crew were filming inside the theatre. When we were eventually let in - Richard Eyre (Director of the National Theatre) was sitting in the middle of the front row and a camera crew were filming the audience from the back of the stage. If they were expecting a typical Soho Theatre audience - the 75% hyperactive females must have phased them slightly. They left before the show started.

The show was buoyant and fun although Adam's stubble was starting to look really prominent and he had even darker circles under his eyes than me. All those late night autograph signing sessions taking their toll I think. It is so difficult to sit in that front row and not gawp at him when he is 6 inches away from you. Particularly in the dancing seduction scene and after the fight when he is lying unconcious at your feet.

His shirt took even more of a hammering and the table creaked as Adam slammed into it fairly violenty twice, but everything passed with out mishap and he was grinning at the curtain call.

Then we took a hasty dash out to Wok Wok for dinner to struggle back at 7.20pm ish for the final show. I sat with Jules on the bar stools on the balcony - an ideal spot to crowd watch and to gawp completely at Adam for 75 minutes without getting caught. Again there were tonnes of IAG regulars in the crowd - the front and second rows particularly were near enough full of them The tiredness was really starting to show now - although the spring was back in his step when he swung Shauna around for the initial dance scene - going so fast she exclaimed "Good Gracious". Her line of "you're a really good dancer" illicited a very cute and bashful "I know" from Adam which had the audience in fits.

The pissing in the sand caused fits of giggles and there was almost an audible collective sigh as Chris kissed Alex. Keir's performance as Paul the yokel barman delighted the crowd as he had at every show particularly his bull-riding scene.

As Bradley and Alex said goodbye amongst the cadillac debris I shed a little tear and then Adam bounded on for the curtain call. A lady in the front row gave him a rose which he promptly held to his ear and shook like he didn't know what it was. And the audience cheered as the cast of the Cadillac Ranch said goodbye to us one last time.

Thanks James, Shauna, Keir and of course the completely gorgeous Adam for a fabulous week. I'm sure the Soho Theatre will never be the same again.
