Cadillac Ranch - Show Report
Thursday March 30th 2000
Let's talk about where to sit seeing as my e-mail box is full of this question. If you are seeing the play for the first time may I suggest you will get the best view from Row 1 as close to the middle as possible going back to about row 6 or 7. Miss out Row 2 cos the view's appalling. That said in a 200 seat theatre you get a great view from everywhere. If you want to pose there are some bar stools up on a balcony which offer an excellent vantage point.
That said - tonight we moved from stage right to stage left to get a different perspective on the action. This prompted tonight's theme of dancing and seduction From my vantage point we were seeing Chris in the same way as Alex sees him as he works his magic on her. (As we've said previously it doesn't work - but it's great watching him try!!!"
First the dance scene where Adam dances fast holding her tightly, pulling fever moves much to the great merriment of Richard Woodford and John Clark sitting at the back of the theatre killing themselves laughing. He gives her his cheekiest grin - flashes those baby blues wickedly and I'd completely gone but she just smiled and was unaffected.
Then the sitting on the ground scene where he tells her she'd look hot in tight jeans and make-up. Flattery with a seductive smile as he reaches across to touch her hair to "see how it feels". He then reaches across to kiss her once. "I don't even know if I like you" she says. "You don't have to like me " he retorts as he kisses her again. Then of course Bradley returns and we go into that discussion about puking. (Last night refers)
The third seduction scene which leads to the fight is again a slow dance as Alex gradually sinks in to Chris's shoulder he holds her tightly as they smooch. She closes her eyes - all the while Paul is trying to persuade Bradley to pop Chris one. It's only when Chris finally lifts up Alex's chin and gives her a full blown Garcia special on the lips that Bradley flies across the stage and hits him. The table's been fixed and reinforced with metal brackets by the way.
Tonight's audience included Jonathan Kerrigan (Sam from Casualty) who shares the same agent as Adam and the IAG website's very own Jane, Lauren and Laura - who I think enjoyed those central front row seats very much. Nice to see ya girls.
That's all till tomorrow.
