The Original Adam Garcia

Cadillac Ranch - Show Report
Tuesday March 28th 2000

In a small, intimate, 200 seater theatre somewhere in London .....a cowboy outfit hung centre stage. Dolly Parton was strangled at the top of her range as the lights went down.

A lone male figure sauntered to stage front and began his monologue - disrobing as the lights slowly went up. First the shirt, then the trousers till he was standing there in his pale blue boxers.

This was Bradley (James Hurn) - the central character beginning his journey to the Cadillac Ranch. (Sorry girls just couldn't resist it). And as he was travelling across the US we found out some very interesting and amusing things about him and his best mate Chris (the "adorable" Adam).

As the week progresses more about the plot of what is an excellent show and well worth much more than £5 but tonight lets just concentrate on Adam - looking mighty fine in his dark jeans, black embroided shirt, silver toed cowboy boots and a very fetching black stetson.

The guys are students from San Diego but are posing as cowboys from just outside Denver. And are accompanied on their quest by Bradley's "would-be squeeze" Alex (Shauna Shim) who Chris promptly tries to seduce. Guess how - yeah you've got it - he dances with her. Although the music was country there was definitely more than a hint of an odyssey in those steps. You just can't stop our boy from dancing - and take it from me he ain't lost it. Alex still manages to turn him down though.(Is she completely insane!!)

That said earlier in the plot you knew he was on to a loser - when he bought a rifle to aid his disguise - Alex hinted it was symbolic of a certain part of his anatomy - he then admitted he'd bought the shortest one in the shop. (Think we could get back into the last SNF matinee size argument again if we ain't careful here).

There is snogging, fighting, urinating and a cute Texas bumpkin barman called Paul (Keir Charles)- oh yeah and more dancing....but let's leave something for tomorrow night.

So sweet dreams all and here's a couple of reminders (or news for those who've been asleep) Adam is on telly tomorrow (sorry London only) - interview on London Today. And because the whole week is completely sold out they have now added a Saturday Matinee show at 4pm and as I type there are still a few seats available. So get in quick.
