It's a particularly rowdy night at Coyote Ugly. In fact, it's a "Fleet Night" for sailors on shore duty. Coyotes Cammie and Rachel are dancing on the bar, as Vi "Jersey" serves up drinks as fast as she can. One of the men grabs Cammie's legs, and carries her off the bar into the crowd. Rachel does what she can to rescue her, but to no avail. Fighting breaks out, and the crowd is clearly out of control.

Lil screams, "Jersey, they're tearing up this place." Lou, the bouncer, can't manage the crowd either. Vi climbs up on the bar, helpless. She looks down and sees the microphone. Debby Harry's "One Way Or Another" starts playing on the karaoke machine. Vi picks up the mike and tentatively starts to sing.

At first nothing happens-mayhem continues-but as she sings a bit stronger, the crowd starts to pay attention. Now she's struttin' her stuff and singing on the bar, until the fights stop, Cammie is released from the clutches of sailors, and Vi is "center-stage." Lil shows a smile of relief and admiration.

The next scene is after the bar is closed, the Coyotes are winding down, and Cammie is lying on the bar. Cammie and Lil are both impressed how Vi/Jersey handled the crowd, and Vi is feeling pleased with herself. Cammie says, "They all wanted you-even the girls!" Lil replies, "Yeah, there wasn't a dry seat in the house!"

Rachel (Bridget Moynahan), "The New York Bitch," wasn't impressed. She says something like, "hey, let's not go giving her a Grammy or anything…she just sang with the juke box." Lil says that Vi/Jersey "saved your butt out there tonight." Rachel replies, something like "no, she just kept me from kicking the shit out of a few drunks." Lil then says something like, "Let's hear it for Jersey…our new coyote!" and applauds her.

Vi says, "Does this mean I get to keep the job?" And Lil answers, "You passed your audition."

Vi wants to do something to celebrate. The next scene shows her in a phone booth, dialing a number.
