A film based on the autobiography of Beverley Donofrio.

Starting in 1968, Spanning a 20-year period from 15 to 35, this is the story of a woman who had a son as a teenager, got married, got divorced, and eventually pulled herself out of welfare and into college, studying to be a writer.

Adam is playing Bev's son Jason.

Beverly is being played by Drew Barrymore. The film is directed by Penny Marshall (Big, The Preacher's Wife) and produced by James L Brooks for Columbia pictures.

Yesterday Adam was filming his only scene in the movie with his on screen father Steve Zahn. Virtually all of Adam's other scenes are with Drew with a lot of "in-car" shots.

The movie wraps on Thursday the 1st February and the wrap party was held last weekend in New York City.

The cast and crew of riding in cars with boys has been busy shooting in both Mt.Vernon, New York USA and East Orange, New Jersey USA since August. The first week in December was spent exclusively in New Jersey filming many scenes with Drew Barrymore, Loraine Bracco, Steve Zahn and James Woods. With Penny Marshall at the helm the project is moving along despite many challenges. Recent delays suggest the film will not make it's May 2001 target date.

As mentioned below - sets are currently being constructed on location in NY. This leg of the shoot apparently begins on 28th August  and lasts for at least one day and a few nights. The film crew are expected to be in NY 6 months in total. Some sources are saying that Columbia are aiming for a May 2001 release. Bearing in mind past experience with film releases and how long these things can really take - maybe this is pushing it! Let's not hold our breath just yet. All good things are worth waiting for...

Shooting is scheduled to take place in NY's Westchester County. Signs of shooting can already be seen where storefronts are being redone for some exteriors. This filming will take place throughout next week, but the rest of the time the production will be using the Yonkers sound stages which have previously been used by such productions as "The Thomas Crown Affair" and the upcoming "Hopewell" series.

Hot Aussie Adam Garcia, who stars in "Coyote Ugly", certainly won't be romancing Drew Barrymore in their new flick "Riding in Cars ith Boys" which just went into production. "I play Drew's 20-year old son, Jason," said Garcia. OK you do the math. In real life Barrymore is 25 but she's playing 35 in the movie. Garcia is 27. The solution? "We'll both be spending a few hours a day in the makeup chair. They'll be adding age to Drew while they're pulling and stretching my face to get rid of my age lines and wrinkles," said Garcia.
