20/02/04 Reviews courtesy of Jill San Francisco Gate -There are some small spoilers ahead, so stop reading if you don't want to know... "Lola and Ella have been arrested along with Sidarthur's lead singer, Stu, whom they rescued from a trash heap. Adam Garcia is very funny as Stu, who turns out to be far from the inspired artist of Lola's fantasies. In fact, he's an obnoxious drunk. In the only scene that made me laugh out loud, Stu demands a cheeseburger and onion rings at the diner where the girls bring him to sober up. Because everybody at the table is broke, he gets a doughnut instead, which he promptly throws across the room, hitting the cop who hauls them in. The one stab at dark humor soon gets candy-coated. When a reformed Stu comes to New Jersey looking for Lola, she promptly lectures him about the evils of drink. He then takes her for a spin around a dance floor while her nemesis Carla seethes."
Variety reports that Budding divas and prima donnas got a taste of the glam life Tuesday night at the world premiere of Disney's "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen." After-party's extracurricular activities included hair and makeup stations where guests (big and small) were teased, mascared and lacquered to a high shine. Polaroid and photo-sticker booths set up at the Westin Hotel captured the glossy moments for revelers. Adam Garcia said he channeled Iggy, Bowie and Ozzy to play his rock-idol part and, with a nod to Janet Jackson, confided, "I'm happy I got to show my nipple in this movie."(Thanks Jill for this) 9/1/2004 |
