Bootmen - The Story

Part 3 - Betrayal and Tragedy

Linda, Mitch and Sean are all together because Linda needs to talk to them. She announces that she's pregnant. Mitch looks at her and at Sean, she looks at them both and turn , then you see the grief on Sean's face and he quietly says, "It's Mitch's". (They had not had sex yet - they didn't want to rush things.) The emotion on his face was so excrutiating. You can't help but cry for him at this.He walks off and goes to rehearsal.

The guys (including Mitch) are rehearsing on rolling bars, a turning platform, all sorts of cool things. Huey and his gang show up, though, and cause chaos.

A guy climbs up on the catwalk and is throwing the lights down. Mitch runs up there to stop him and Huey chases him. Huey pulls a knife and Mitch falls. Sean runs to him. Mitch smiles and says, "Give us a kiss, eh?" and is dead.

Again, the emotion from Ads is just heartstopping - it felt like the wind was sucked out of me. He is sobbing and whimpering and just holding Mitch. He escorts the gurney and someone is holding him so they can take Mitch off in the ambulance and he can barely stand. At the funeral, Linda is crying but Sean is simply devastated.

Linda and Sean are sitting on the beach and he tells her they can't be together because of Mitch - he can't handle it. He tries to go to a rugby game with his dad, but neither of them stay because they just can't. Then, to make matters worse, it is announced that the steelworks is closing in 3 months.

Sean goes to Mitch's shop and sees these taps that MItch made - they have sound amplifiers on them so they can be heard over any band. He tells the others they're gonna have a benefit for the steelworkers and shows them the tap-enhancer-thingys. They recruit other tap schools to make the show really big. The sound of all of them tapping in boots in the rehearsal studio is so loud it goes right through you - it's fantastic!!

He looks SO HOT!!!! :):) Though he does have this abysmal brown sweater thru the movie - nicely contrasted by the great red flannel shirt, though!! :) :)

He asks his dad to come to the show, and the puppy dog eyes on him are BRUTAL!! Somehow he manages to say no, though. He tells the guys that they can't have the show at the steelworks, though (it's where Mitch died). He walks into this abandoned warehouse, drops his boots, the music starts and you just KNOW that you're at the beginning of a wild ride!!!

He tells Linda that he wants to help take care of her and the baby and she says she has it covered. He insists (how manly of him!!!!) and she relents. He starts to weep "It just doesn't seem real". I tell ya, TAKE A LOT OF KLEENEX TO THIS FILM!!!!! I can only imagine about "Immortality" (which is on right now, as fate would have it), but this movie is HEARTWRENCHING by him!!!!!!

You see the signs for the show and the crowd funneling in. Sean is with Walter. "The whole bloody town is here except him (his dad). I know...don't improvise." Walter: "No, it's your show! Do whatever the hell you want! :)" Sean starts to tell the guys "Keep it simple...don't..." and says "I can't believe I just said that..." VERY funny.

THE SHOW BEGINS!!!!!!!!!!!!

.......FINAL PART SOON
