Bootmen - The Story
Part 2 - Infidelity and inspiration
Meanwhile back in Newcastle, Linda's friends are warning her about "Doorknob Sean" -
everybody's had a turn. Apparently Sean is quite the playboy!! Mitch and
Linda are dancing and Linda is QUITE drunk. Mitch keeps her dancing,
though. They end up in bed together - you see them in the morning!
HEARTLESS WENCH!! She tells Mitch he has to leave and she rushes out
realizing what a DAMN FOOL she has been.
Sean, recently fired from the
show, comes by her house to say hello, looks in her bedroom window and sees
Mitch! He is FURIOUS and slams his fist on the wall, yells (waking Mitch)
and rides off on his motorcycle. He passes Linda in town and just looks
destroyed. She knows what she did and looks SOOOO guilty. Linda shows up while Mitch and Sean are fighting about her and says she
wants to talk to Sean alone. Sean: "If you can f**k him, you can bloody
well TALK in front of him!!" (Sorry about the profanity, but it is a GREAT
line). She said she was drunk, he never called, Sean's got a bad rep,
yadda yadda yadda. Sean gets SO hurt and irate and screams "I called you
that many times!!!! You're line was always busy!!!!" He tells Mitch he
can have her and storms off.
Sean is watching rugby with his dad and his dad informs him that he still
can get his job back at the steelworks because he told the guy not to fill
it (that Sean'd be back). Sean: "Thanks for your support, Dad."
Sean talks to Walter about the new troupe, and Walter tells Sean that he
doesn't know anything about starting a new group. Sean: *big grin* "I'll
improvise!" He's trying then to get others to join and tells them that
when you're in a show, girls always want to "knock you off" :) Ain't it
the truth!!! |

Sean is tapping while eating cereal and chewing in time with his tapping - it's so cute! Linda sees Sean ice skating with another girl and gets all upset "Didn't take you long to find someone else, I see." Sean: "Meet my cousin Annabelle" They learn of a fight outside and go to watch - Sean realizes it's Mitch getting the tar beat out of him.
He rides up on his bike and saves the day - they both ride off on the bike but get chased and end up (bike and all) in the water!! Then Mitch fesses up to Sean that he's been stealing cars and infringing on Huey's territory (hence the fight). Sean suggests he join the tap group to get money to buy his rig (Mitch's dream) instead.
Sean is upset because the group isn't going well. When he's at the steelworks, he drops his sledgehammer (from the very beginning of the trailer) and notices the sound. He starts messing with banging on things. he makes taps for his boots and starts tapping on everything - steel rods, girders, I beams, the coolest is this inverted ramp that he taps on by pushing himself up on a bar and taps with his bum in the air - sparks come from his feet!! It's wonderful!! He has his idea!!!
He asks his dad for a bit of his inheritance from his mom's death (he had already given some to Mitch for his rig) but he said no because the tap group wasn't "worthwhile".
Linda and Sean meet at sunset and he says he thought they had something. She tells him she loves him. They make up. Bad blue screen effect (only negative thing about the movie - they didn't use a real sunset and it's painfully obvious). They kiss (alot!) and end up making out on the hood of the car - nothing else, just kissing, but a good scene!
Mitch comes back around when he's VERY drunk and tries to convince Linda that Sean will bolt again as soon as there's another show. She is SMART this time and tells him to go away and sleep it off.
One of the guys in the group has a cousin with a rock band that agrees to play for free and they are playing bits of songs to see how the tapping sounds with it. They eventually start playing "Puttin on the Ritz" and Sean wrinkles his nose up and shakes his head - VERY funny. There are so many references to HSS in this movie!!
Mitch gets beat up & robbed and goes to the studio where they're practicing. They have a problem, though. The band is way too loud to hear the tapping over. Linda does Sean's hair for him (she owns a salon) - just like Tony in SNF!! He kind of looks at it funny but says it looks good - then all the guys tease him about it. :)
They are desperately trying to come up with the money for the show and run out in the middle of a Newcastle Knights game and push the cheerleaders off the stage and have BOOTMEN spelled out on their shirtsand start tapping!! Unfortunately they spelled it backwards so everyone laughed at them!! They got arrested to boot! (No pun intended!)
Linda, Mitch and Sean are all together because Linda needs to talk to them. She announces that she's pregnant. Mitch looks at her and at Sean, she looks at them both and ............
