The Original Adam Garcia

Bootmen - The Story

Part 1 - Watch out - it's the motorbike kid!!

About 30 seconds in you see Sean (Adam) riding a motorcycle! No 11 minutes till he shows up like Coyote! :) Then they're at the steelworks and you see Sean in his workclothes and goggles (which are goofy but cute in an endearing way) and looking very scrungy. He smokes in this movie (not very realistically, though). He's sitting with his dad with an unlit cig in his mouth and has the cutest smile!!

He goes to the tap school for an audition for this very nasty choreographer, and him and Mitch (Sam Worthington, his brother in the film) are both there along the bar with the others. His teacher, Walter, is always telling him "Keep it simple and DON'T improvise!"

Well, Sean is a bit of an individualist and starts off in a short little solo. The choreographer is upset and asks him why he should hire him since he can't follow a simple direction. Sean simply says, "Because I'm bloody good!" WELL SAID!!

He is thrown out of the audition, though, and is then outside showing Linda (Sophie Lee) some more of his solo moves when Mitch gets into trouble and Sean comes to save the day. The choreographer notices this and hires Sean. YEAH! :) Sean's dad is less than enthusiastic and tells him he can't go to Sydney to be in the show, and Sean is going anyways, he says "Why, you haven't even seen me tap." It was heartbreaking.

Linda is sound asleep and you hear tapping outside her window. She wakes up and looks outside and Sean has a HUGE smile on his face and says he thought they would continue their lesson! It was so sweet - very reminiscent of "Say Anything" with John Cusack. Then they're tapping on the beach and she says she has terrible timing and he says she doesn't. Her response is "You're just saying that to try and get in my pants!" Sean: "No I'm not! Well...maybe I am..."

We get to see Sean and Mitch playing rugby and all sweaty :) and then is the romantic swim scene. Ads is VERY hot standing on the diving board!!! It's a very tame scene, though, and they say they're not going to rush it and they kiss a bit. Very sweet and innocent.

It's time for Sean to leave for Sydney and Mitch, Linda and their other friends are all there at the house to wish him well. Linda says she'll definitely be there opening night. Sean: "You're just saying that to try and get in my pants!" Followed by an adorable smile and a passionate kiss. My knees got weak just the way he looked at her!!

Sean arrives at the theatre in Sydney, and there is a huge poster of...you guessed it...Dein Perry! He's the star of the show that Sean got hired for (not as himself, though). Sean is dancing by himself (just larking about) and at the same time they show Mitch stealing a car, and they coordinated the tapping sounds from Sean with the sounds from the car with Mitch - it was a very original scene!

Sean keeps trying to call Linda, but the line is always busy and he can't get through. The set for the show is the same as the Hot Shoe Shuffle set - the huge stairway with the slides on the side. The cast in tuxes.

Sean pulls another solo and gets whacked in the gut with a cane by Dein. He calls him an upstart and fires him! Fool!!

Meanwhile back at home in Newcastle..................

Thanks so much to our new US correspondent team member Colette for her great work in noting all this while drooling over Adam. Still don't know how you managed to do it girl - you are amazing.
