The Original Adam Garcia

Colette reports from Montreal

Here is Colettes account of her trip to see Bootmen at the Montreal Film Festival

BEFORE THE FILM:

A man stood up and announced the film and that Hilary Linstead, the producer, was with us. She said a few words about Dein Perry & Tap Dogs, and how him and Ads were in Sydney prepping for the Olympics. THen I noticed that she was sitting 4 rows in front of me!! I made up my mind right then to talk to her after the film (I knew $c would never forgive me if I didn't!!)

The lights went out and I started to cry. I couldn't believe I was going to see this film and I had come so far. I just wish everyone from the site could've been there with me!! Loud rock music (which I thoroughly loved) started and in the credits started.

AFTER THE FILM:

I walked up to Hilary (still in her seat talking to the gent next to her) and I tapped her lightly and excused myself. I told her I had driven 750 miles one way to come see the film and could I please have her autograph. "I guess...but why don't you talk to the star of the film (my heart exploded) *she motions to her left* This is Sam Worthington, Mitch Okden from the film!"

Well, let's just say English QUICKLY became my second language. :) I was going a million miles a minute and I told him about the ORIGINAL AG website and all of you!! and we talked for a good 5-10 minutes about the film and Ads career. He said it was wonderful that I came all this way and he was so glad I liked the film. (He played a creep, but he really was very good!) I handed him my ticket stub, notebook and pen and he signed my notebook (I will send photos of the autographs later tonight). He shook my hand, thanked me again "so much" for coming and for the support.

I didn't get a photo with him because they were staying in until well after everyone had gone, and the house lights were still out. But I kept replaying the best 10 minutes of my life in my mind (and still am!!) I can't believe it really happened. The film doesn't do him justice, though...he is very handsome in person. I touched his knee when he was signing my book!! It was fab!! He was so friendly and genuinely seemed interested in me and the website, etc.

I did get Hilary's autograph, too. I wonder if Sam will tell Ads about it when they tell him and Dein about the screening!!! YEP ADAM - I'm the psychotically giddy chick from the screening!!!! :) :) :) :)

A few things I've been asked:
1. Poster:
Pic of Ads taken from underneath (thru the floor). BIG Boot, and his lovely face. :) I took a pic of it...I should have it developed in the next day or so - will probably be able to have it posted here by the weekend.

2. Accent
Totally understandable. I was worried about this, but I didn't miss a thing. They're all very clear. And it's so damn sexy!!!

3. Nudity/language:
No nudity. Rats! >:) Language - LOTS. Ads throws around the curses like an old pro. But he just sounds so cute you just can't be mad at him! :)

4. Bootmen vs. Coyote:
DUH! Ok...He is in the WHOLE film pretty much. The acting is MUCH better. (Though I didn't think Linda was anything special at all - she could've been played by anyone. Her acting wasn't that great.) The writing is much harder - No PG-13 kiddie movie here!! Sadly, though...I don't think it's going to do THAT well in the US. It's a very 'artsy' film for over here, and people still don't take to them as well as, say, "There's Something About Mary" (which I still FIRMLY hold to be THE WORST movie ever made).

Thank you so much Colette for all your hardwork in pulling this one together.
